Getting Outdoors; Springtime in Cincy

March 17, 2009

With the weather improving, do you find yourself anxious to get outdoors?  Try these fun spots for outdoor fun and a bonus:  animals!  Local petting zoos, farms and farmer's markets can be a great way to enjoy the outdoors.  Try these:

Gorman Heritage Farm - in the heart of the city, this working farm has great experience to offer.  Enjoy the guitar with Mr. Mike and get close to the animals in the spring. You can go on a tour, or go on your own.

Children's  zoo at the Cincinnati Zoo - Enjoy a variety of animals your children can pet at the Frisch's' Discovery Program and feed the goats.

Sunrock Farm - While Sunrock Farm is getting a bit expensive, they are generous with their time as far as getting near the animals and really enjoying them.  Farmer Frank can even allow your child to milk a goat!

Shaw farm - Shaw Farm has a lot to offer, particularly in the fall.  Somewhat more reasonably priced, this is a nice look at nature, but you can't get too close to the animals...

Winton woods - Horse Camp...  this comes well recommended!  It sounds like a blast to interest those budding veterinarians!

Findlay market - Lots of fun for those who love unique fresh food.

Whole Foods markets in Deerfield Township has a ton of kid-friendly classes.  Call 398-9358 for details!

Other areas you'd like to add to the list?  I'd love to hear it!
